School’s out for summer!

No more assignments, no more alarm clocks waking you up early in the morning. You are FREE! Now, the question now is what to do.

We wanted to share some fun ideas for this summer to hopefully occupy your time with your friends, family &/or boyfriend/girlfriend.

Water Fun:

  1. Go swimming at one of the local city pools. Admission for the day is only $5.00 and under!
  2. Have a float trip down Shoal Creek.
  3. Grab a tarp, dish soap and a water hose and make your own slip & slide.
  4. Go canoeing.
  5. Invite some friends over for a water balloon fight.
  6. Have a car wash and donate the money to a charity of your choice.

Outdoor Fun:

  1. Have everyone bring food and have a picnic in the park!
  2. Hike the trails at Wildcat Glades Park.
  3. Grab some friends and go camping. Don’t forget to get permission from the adults!
  4. Float or canoe down Shoal Creek.
  5. Want a cheap & fun night? Roast some hot dogs & smores by a fire!
  6. Have a NERF gun competition.
  7. Take me out to the ball game. There are several teams to pick from in this area to go watch.
  8. Play disc golf at McClelland Park.
  9. Go fishing.
  10. Fly a kite.
  11. Grow a garden.
  12. Go play Putt-Putt.
  13. Grab some friends and pick one to play: capture the flag, airsoft or paintball.
  14. Grab some friends and go to the Drive-In theatre.
  15. Go to the Art Walks in Downtown Joplin & Carthage.

Rainy Day Ideas:

  1. Have a movie marathon! Buy a box of popcorn, invite your friends and have some fun!
  2. Go to the movies.
  3. Throw a game night. Play some charades, Apples to Apples and Catch Phrase.
  4. Go to the roller-skating rink.
  5. Go bowling.
  6. Gamers, forget LIVE – host a LAN Party.
  7. Draw, paint and CREATE. We have heard a lot of you are really good with some sharpie tattoos! Hashtag us pictures!
  8. Make a YouTube video!
  9. Catch up on a book that you have wanted to read, but haven’t had the time.
  10. Go grab some ice cream. Better yet, try to make your own!
  11. Volunteer at a local organization. Need help with this one? Ask us and we will get you connected!
  12. Get an internship. This is a great time to start figuring out what you want to pursue in the future for a career.
  13. Get a job. This is the perfect time to make a little money!

Up for a Challenge?

  1. Progressive State Dinner. Grab some of your favorite friends, split the gas, get in the car and go! The challenge is to drive to each state connected to MO in one night while doing a progressive dinner:
    1. Have an appetizer in Arkansas
    2. Have a dinner in Oklahoma
    3. Have dessert in Kansas
  2. Have Christmas in July. Host a Christmas party with a white gift exchange, make cookies, do the ugly sweater contest and watch classic Christmas movies.
